Merv was born in Auckland and showed interested in art from early childhood, and was given great encouragement from his parents to follow his dream. After leaving school, Merv trained as a Signwriter/Graphic Artist and in 1968 set up and operated his own sign studio. Eventually his passion for art took over and he now works as a full time Landscape artist communicating his love for New Zealand’s Spectacular and stunning landscapes through his paintings.  Merv exhibits successfully both in New Zealand, Australia and Italy, developing a strong following of admirers and collectors of his work. His work is held in many private collections including the Gallipoli Memorial Club Museum in Sydney Australia, and the Legato Collection in Cassino Italy.

Merv paints in both oils and acrylics and is sought after for teaching, workshops and demonstrations. He runs classes from his studio in Eastern Beach and the Uxbridge Art Centre in Howick
